The Central Dogma Theory of Biology explains how cells use DNA to produce RNA, which then produces proteins from amino acid chains. The Central Dogma can be explained by breaking down and explaining three processes that occur with genetic material. These three processes are DNA replication, transcription, and translation.

The purposes of this research paper are to analyze the study of what epigenetics is, what is chronic disease and finally discover how the two are related. It was discovered that the study of epigenetics has evolved since its original breakthrough. Originally epigenetics only involved the study of how gene function is altered but now it encompasses the processes that can influence gene function such as methylation and the heredity of different genes. Studies have shown that gene function and the heredity of genes can be influenced by different factors such as age, environment, and lifestyle. These factors can trigger the gene to not function properly. Gene malfunction can lead to the development of a chronic disease.
